WONKY'S STORY

Wonky's Story

When I sought help for my addiction, I had one condition: “I won’t go without Wonky.”

Most treatment centers turned me away—they didn’t allow pets.

Thankfully, my family stepped in to care for Wonky until I could.

That act of love gave me the peace of mind I needed to focus fully on healing. Knowing Wonky was safe allowed me to lay the foundation for my recovery—to show up, to stay, and to begin rebuilding my life with clarity and purpose.

After three years of constant growth, hard work, and a new trust built between us, Wonky and I are now living a happy, sober life together.

But many people don’t have someone to care for their pets, and that becomes the barrier keeping them from recovery.

That’s why I created Wonky’s House—a safe haven where pets are cared for, loved, and kept safe while their people heal.

Because no one should ever have to choose between getting well and keeping the one who never gave up on them.

OUR VISION

Wonky’s House is young, but our vision is big:

  • To grow into a sanctuary where dozens of dogs can be safely housed, cared for, and loved.

  • To expand foster networks so no family ever has to surrender their beloved pet in order to save themselves.

  • To become a place of second chances—for both people and animals—to rebuild, reunite, and recover together.

Addiction affects everyone in the family—including the pets.

Dogs feel the chaos, the instability, and the heartbreak that comes with their owner’s struggle.

At Wonky’s House, we give them stability, enrichment, and love.

Every walk, every cuddle, every game of fetch is part of their own healing journey while they wait to be reunited.
